Ingredients (for red rice)
- Red rice : 1 cup
- Water : 4 cups
Ingredients (for raw rice)
- Rice (Sona masoori) : 1 cup
- Water - 2 cups
Ingredients (for Basmati / Jeera sambha rice)
- Rice (Basmati / Jeera Sambha) : 1 cup
- Water - 1.5 cups
Procedure for red rice
- Add red rice and water into the cooker
- After the first whistle, reduce the flame to low and cook for another 15 minutes. (Time is actually based on the type of red rice. For Nirapara red rice 15 mins is sufficient after 1 whistle)
- Once the steam is gone, filter the water out of the rice. After 30 minute when the water is completely drained, rice is ready to be served.
Note: The rice water is very nutritious and we can drink it with a bit of salt and pickle
Procedure for white raw rice
- Add raw rice and water into the cooker
- Switch off the stove after 4 whistles
- Once the steam is gone, rice is ready to be served.
Procedure for Basmati rice
- Soak the rice for 30 minutes
- Add raw rice and water into the cooker
- Switch off the stove after 2 whistles
- Once the steam is gone, rice is ready to be served.
Procedure for Jeera Sambha rice
- Add raw rice and water into the cooker
- Switch off the stove after 2 whistles
- Once the steam is gone, rice is ready to be served.
