Ingredients
- Prawns - 250 gm
- Grated coconut - 1 cup
- Red chilli powder - 2 tbsp
- Coriander powder - 2.5 tbsp
- Turmeric powder - 0.25 tbsp
- Fenugreek powder - 0.5 tbsp
- Ginger - 1 inch
- Garlic - 3 cloves
- Green chilli - 1
- Shallot - 10
- Tamarind - 1 lemon size
- Mustard - 1 tsp
- Coconut oil - 2 tbsp
- Curry leaves - 2 twig
- Salt
Procedure
- Clean prawns well. Remove the vein from the top.
- Cut ginger, garlic and green chillies into small pieces
- Cut shallots length wise.
- Grind coconut, red chilli, coriander and turmeric powder into a smooth paste
- Make tamarind water using half cup water
- Heat oil in a manchatty.
- Add the cut ginger, garlic and green chilli. Stir for few minutes.
- Add the ground coconut paste. Stir for another 3 minutes
- Add tamarind water and one cup of water. Let the mix boil.
- Add prawns, enough salt and cook for five minutes
- In a separate pan, heat one tsp of oil and splutter mustard
- Add two cut shallots and curry leaves to this and stir.
- Add this to the prawn curry.
- Add fenugreek powder and drizzle coconut oil on top of the curry.
- Yummy prawn curry is ready to be served with rice
