- Beans - 15
- Onion - 1 medium
- Grated coconut - 3/4 cup
- Turmeric powder - 1 tsp
- Jeera - 0.5 tbsp
- Red chilli powder - 0.5 tbsp
- Shallot - 5
- Mustard - 1tsp
- Curry leaves - 1 twig
- Oil - 1 tbsp
- Dry red chilli - 1
- Salt
Note:
- Instead of shallot 3 cloves of garlic can be used
- Half tbsp of coriander powder can be added along with coconut
Procedure
- Cut beans and onion into very small pieces
- In a pan, heat oil and splutter mustard
- Add two thinly sliced shallots, red chilli and curry leaves and fry till shallot becomes transparent
- Add the cut beans and onion.
- Add half cup of water
- While the beans is cooking in medium flame, pulse coconut, jeera, remaining shallot, turmeric and red chilli powder in a mixie.
- When the beans is half cooked (around 6-7 minutes), add the ground coconut paste and cook for 2 minute.
- Add required salt.
- Mix the coconut mixture, salt and the beans nicely.
- Cook till the thoran has become dry and drizzle a bit of oil.
- Yummy thoran is ready to be served with rice.
