Ingredients
- Achovy / Netholi - 250 gms
- Shallot - 20
- Red chilli powder - 2 tbsp
- Pepper powder - 1 tbsp
- Turmeric powder - 0.5 tbsp
- Ginger - 1 inch
- Curry leaves
- Oil - for frying
- Salt
Procedure
- Clean the fish well. Remove all the internal stuff from the fish.
- Pulse shallot, red chilli powder, pepper powder, turmeric and ginger twice. It should not be ground too smoothly.
- Apply this mixture and salt over the fish and marinate this for at least 2 hours. It is better to keep it in the refrigerator.
- Heat the tawa and shallow fry the fish.
- Add oil and swirl the tawa so that oil reaches all parts of the tawa.
- When the oil is hot, place the fish on the tawa. Once one side is fried (about 2 minutes) flip the fish to the other side. Strew few curry leaves over the fish. The aroma of the curry leaves and the fish frying is heavenly.
- Once both the sides are fried well, remove the fish from oil.
- Serve it with rice.
Note: Make sure that the fish is marinated at least for 2 hours in the refrigerator.
