Ingredients
- Moong dal / Parippu - 1 cup
- Garlic - 4 cloves
- Grated coconut - 1 cup
- Jeera / Cumin - 0.5 tbsp
- Turmeric powder - 0.25 tbsp
- Pepper corn - 0.5 tbsp
- Curry leaves - 1 twig
- Coconut oil / Ghee - 1 tbsp
- Water - 2.5 cups
Procedure
- Fry the moong dal for 3-4 minutes. A nice aroma can be felt
- Cook the moong dal in a cooker by adding water. Make sure that the water covers the dal
- Wait for 4 whistles
- In the meanwhile, grind turmeric powder, coconut, jeera and garlic very smoothly by adding sufficient water,
- When the steam is released naturally from cooker, add the ground mixture to the cooked dal
- Add pepper corn and salt to the mixture and mix for few minutes
- Cook this mixture for another 5 minutes. Keep mixing in between to prevent burning of the mixture.
- Add curry leaves and ghee to the mixture finally and switch off the stove. You may replace ghee with coconut oil.
- Yummy parippu curry is ready to be served with rice and pappadam.
