Ingredients
( Serves 5-7 people)
- Oil – 3 tbsp
- Cumin seeds – half tsp
- Pepper corns – 6-10
- Bay leaves – 2-3
- Cloves – 4-5
- Cinnamon – 1 piece
- Cardamom – 3-4
- Ginger – 1 inch piece
- Garlic – 6 cloves
- Green Chilli – 2
- Onion – 2 Medium
- Turmeric powder – half tsp
- Red Chilli Powder – 1 tbsp
- Tomato – 1 – small
- Coriander leaves – half cup
- Prawn – 500 Gm;s – Cleaned
- Long white rice – 2 cups (Soaked in water for 20-30 minutes)
- Water - 3 cups
- Coconut Milk – 1 cup
- Salt- As needed
Procedure
- Cut green chillies, ginger, onion and tomato into small pieces.
- Heat oil in a pan and fry the spices ( cumin seeds, cloves, cinnamon, bay leaves, cardamom, pepper corns) for 30 to 40 seconds
- Add onion pieces and fry till it is golden brown
- Add ginger and garlic and green chilli and fry for 1 minute
- Add turmeric and red chilly powder and continue frying for 90 seconds
- Add tomato pieces and fry for another minute. Add salt as necessary.
- Add prawns and cook for 2 minutes
- Add rice and mix well.
- Add coriander leaves
- Add water, and coconut milk – Mix well, and cook in low flame with lid closed till the rice is cooked
- Yummy prawn pulav is ready to be served hot with raita
